Black Mountain mine is located near the town of Aggeneys in South Africa’s Northern Cape province operating two mining units and as well as a processing plant producing copper, lead and zinc concentrates and silver as a by product. The mine is currently expanding its processing capability through the construction of a 0.7Mtpa modular iron ore processing facility. ZV Civils has been appointed by Ruwacon to provide subcontracting services for earthworks and civil structures.

The Works comprise of the Engineering, Procurement and Construction of a surface four bin bagging plant and an underground concrete batching plant for the Palaborwa Mining Company.

To alleviate the risk of embankment collapse and damage to persons and properties the eThekweni Municipality commissioned the construction of 3m to 5m high reinforced retaining walls in existing residential areas. The project was completed with minimum interference and disturbance to residents. The works were completed with no reportable injuries. Skilled and unskilled labor was sourced from local communities.

Under the eThekweni emergency repair program the box culvert along Ndlulamiti Crecent in Umlazi was reconstructed. The residents on the street where most appreciative having reinstated safe access to their homes.

Construction of a River Bridge in Kwa-Zulu Natal under difficult environmental conditions. Strict measures were enforced to prevent silting of estuaries downstream of the works. The employment and training of local people was a celebrated success. Safe passage across the river during all seasons is now a reality for residents living in the area. We are proud to have contributed towards improving their lives. The works were completed with no reportable injuries.
